The Champions to End Malaria Photo Exhibit

This year, the UN Foundation's Nothing But Nets is honoring Champions in the fight against malaria -- from students, to CEOs, to YOU.

Together with the Roll Back Malaria partnership we're showcasing some of the hundreds of thousands of Champions who are helping save lives by preventing malaria through a larger-than-life, interactive exhibit, featuring photos by Platon. The Champions to End Malaria Exhibit will be on display at the United Nations, launching on World Malaria Day (April 25th) and running through May 22nd.

The Artist

World-renowned photographer Platon shoots portrait and documentary work for a range of international publications including The New Yorker, TIME Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, GQ, and The Sunday Times Magazine. In 2007, Platon photographed Russian Premier Vladimir Putin for TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year Cover. This image was awarded the coveted first prize at the 2008 World Press Photo Contest. Platon is now a staff photographer at The New Yorker.

The United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets

Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a disease that kills a child every 45 seconds in Africa. Hundreds of thousands of people have joined the campaign that was created by the United Nations Foundation in 2006. In support of the UN and its Millennium Development Goals, Nothing But Nets makes it easy to help--it only costs $10 to provide an insecticide-treated bed net to prevent this deadly disease. Visit www.NothingButNets.net to send a net and save a life.

The Roll Back Malaria Partnership

The UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign is a partner in the Roll Back Malaria (RBM). RBM was launched in 1998 by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the United Nations Development Programme, and the World Bank to help coordinate a global approach to fighting malaria. Nothing But Nets works closely with our partners in RBM to drastically reduce malaria deaths in support of the Millennium Development Goals.

ExxonMobil

As a major employer and investor in Africa, ExxonMobil is working with partners on-the-ground to help alleviate the devastating impact of malaria. Over the past decade, ExxonMobil has committed more than $100 million in funding a range of programs that touch the lives of 40 million people, mostly in Africa.

Will YOU or someone you know be our 25th Champion in the fight to end malaria?

Many of you have submitted your stories, and with your votes, we've narrowed it down to four incredible finalists.
